I used Marble Granite World (MGW) of Kernersville around 6 weeks ago to have a Grade C Granite counter top installed in my kitchen. Cathy Roberts was the standout... read more employee. She did an excellent job communicatiing all the various stages of the project, she was very level headed and composed and professional. She was my primary contact and worked up the estimate. The other members of the GMW team and their contractors were also good at what they did. There were multiple stages to having countertops installed correctly and it took several weeks. Remove old counter top. I had my existing countertop frame professionally reinforced and leveled with Popular, which is a fairly straight wood and used in doorways. Countertop framework has to be within 1/4 inch tolerance for contigous stone pieces. MGW used a laser to measure tolerances. Remove old tile and drywall. Install new drywall. Shim and install new granite countertop. Reinstall new tile. Finish with sink and plumbing. Behind the oven/stove, I requested that the tile be placed one level below the countertop level so it will not be noticable if someone ever comes in a new oven/stove design, that is flush with the countertop. Countertop removal contractor went a little crazy with the saw (multiple jobs in one day) but it was in a location that no one else would notice except me. Drywall guy could have cleaned up a little more but nothing permanent. Sink removal guy left some standing water on the particle board floor under the sink but I cleaned it up quickly after and now have a rubber/plastic matt under the sink area (new product Amazon). All minor stuff. Countertop looks great. After I got her some information, Cathy got back to me with the original written estimate quickly (48 hours) and the price came down from there because of less square footage. Mine was fairly small with 32 square feet. MGW recommended the correct tile color and the whole kitchen blends together very well. I was so pleased with Cathy's performance, I tipped her generously and offered suggestions for the benefit of MGW. I probably would have been slightly happier with Kohler sink products, but currently fairly happy with my 16 gauge stainless steel sink and faucet and overall look. You definitely need the 15 year granite sealant. Without it, granite can stain. This smell goes away quickly. However, the glue/caulk keeping the sink in place smells bad for about 3-4 weeks. Running house fans helps air out the smell. On a positive note, this glue/caulk drys VERY solid. MGW was top rated on Google and rightfully so. A competitor returned a quote a week later and four(4) digits higher. Competitor did not really seem to want my business and did not have their act together. One final advantage of a Kernersville based stone countertop business is that there is a major Granite and Marble wholesaler right across 421, so you can conveniently view their selection and prices. Kudos to Cathy and the team at MGW. I would certainly use them again and highly recommend them. I thought I already posted a review of MGW but apparently not. Cheers!
